Racer's Edge maintains a fleet of four Mazda RX-7 race cars, the majority of which have raced in the Spec-7 and other series.
These cars all have Mazda's free revving rotary engine, rear wheel drive and manual transmissions. Lacking the driver aids common in today's road cars, these cars are a great teaching tool as they handle beautifully with almost perfect weight distribution and provide a lot of feedback to the driver.
Easy to learn but hard to master, the RX-7 allows the novice racer to find their way around the track effectively in a short amount of time whilst also offering the experienced driver a platform to push the envelope. The cars are able to run continuously throughout the day, meaning more track time and less down time!
In 1981, the RX-7 took outright victory in the Spa 24hrs beating every car in its own class and more powerful cars in the classes above it becoming the first Japanese car in history to win this prestigious event.
To ensure your safety, all our cars are equipped with full roll cages, door bars, multi-point safety harnesses and racing seats.
Each car is meticulously prepared to ensure flawless operation on track, and to make sure you enjoy as much time behind the wheel as possible.
"What a wonderful thing" - Richard Meaden drives the Spa 24hr winning Mazda RX-7, and explains it's giant killing capabilities, wonderful handling characteristics and unique sensory experience offered by the rotary engine.
